Cut Circle is a vocal octet specializing in renaissance music. Formed in Boston by Jesse Rodin in 2003 to explore aspects of his research on Josquin des Prez and his contemporaries, the ensemble has been praised for its “fabulous,” “masterful,” “spirited,” “scholarly,” and “gravity-defying” performances. Cut Circle recently recorded the album Roman Warriors: L’homme armé Masses by Marbrianus de Orto and Josquin des Prez, currently in the final stages of production. Our dynamic, assertive style is rooted in the notion that 15th- and 16th-century music is not only extremely beautiful, but highly varied and, at times, utterly thrilling.
